Sunday, 26 May 2024 – Celebrating International Biodiversity Day which falls on 22 May, J Trust Bank planted 1,000 mangrove seedlings on Harapan Island, Seribu Islands in collaboration with CarbonEthics and Bumi Journey. Planting 1,000 mangrove seedlings is J Trust Bank's commitment to support biodiversity conservation and as an effort to mitigate climate change.
Apart from planting mangroves, volunteers and management representatives also received training about mangroves and climate change from BumiJourney and learned about mangrove breeding which was taught directly by the local farmer group assisted by CarbonEthics.
The planting of 1,000 mangrove seedlings is part of J Trust Bank's collaborative plan to protect and care for the environment. One of them, through the TORA Green Savings savings program, J Trust Bank invites its customers to not only save, but contribute directly to mangrove planting projects.
TORA Green Savings is J Trust Bank's first savings program created as part of the implementation of the company's sustainability aspects. Through TORA Green Savings J Trust Bank facilitates customers who have concerns and want to contribute to environmental preservation by setting aside 0.5% p.a from savings interest for planting mangroves. For every Rp. 25,000,- from the funds collected collectively, 1 (one) Mangrove tree will be planted in the CarbonEthics work area in the Seribu Islands, DKI Jakarta.
Not only does it have an impact on the environment, the TORA Green Savings savings program also provides attractive savings interest of 3.5% p.a (0.5% p.a is set aside for Mangrove planting) and free monthly administration fees.
