Tangerang, October 26, 2024 - J Trust Bank is one of more than 80 collaborators in the celebration of Youth Pledge Day entitled the 2024 Youth Action to Protect the Climate (AMJI) movement, an initiative of Econusa, Penjaga Laut, and EcoDefender. Together with 42 employee volunteers, J Trust Bank participated in the Mangrove Center, Tanjung Pasir, Tangerang Regency by planting 3,000 mangroves, sowing 5,000 mangrove seedlings, and collecting garbage in the Tanjung Pasir beach area.
As part of the spirit of the younger generation in restoring forest and marine ecosystems, AMJI supports the Indonesian government's target of achieving Net Zero Emission by 2050, while celebrating #100TahunSumpuhPemuda. This year, the spirit of commemorating the 96th anniversary of the Youth Pledge was realized through hundreds of collaborative actions carried out simultaneously at 1,251 points throughout Indonesia, both online and offline.
The second participation in the AMJI movement is based on J Trust Bank's commitment to be responsible for carbon emissions resulting from operations and business practices. Participation in AMJI 2024 is J Trust Bank's real action towards environmental preservation.
J Trust Bank's Corporate Secretary Division Head, Ridyawan Amnar, said, "We hope to continue to support this Young Climate Action in the future, because preserving the environment is a shared responsibility. Mangroves are very important for marine, coastal and even terrestrial ecosystems. By preserving the environment, we are also supporting sustainable development."
The enthusiasm of young volunteers from individuals, communities, organizations, and corporations in AMJI is increasing compared to previous years. This year, AMJI has involved around 65,000 young people throughout Indonesia, planted more than 42,000 mangrove and tree seedlings, released 115 hatchlings, and adopted more than 60 coral seedlings, which shows an increase in environmental awareness and concern.
