Bali, 25 November 2023. In commemoration of National Tree Planting Day which falls in November, PT Bank JTrust Indonesia Tbk (J Trust Bank) and Jimbaran Hijau (initiator of Jimbafest 2023) replace the carbon emissions footprint of 3 tons of CO2 through the initiative of planting 1,000 trees mangroves in the Kelan Mangrove Forest, Kelan Kangin Beach, Tuban, to achieve zero carbon emissions.
This activity aimed to offset the environmental impacts of Jimbafest 2023 and the 8th Anniversary J Trust Matsuri held in October 2023.
Mangrove trees are valuable carbon sinks and provide ecological benefits, such as protecting shorelines, supporting marine life, and enhancing water quality.
Yusea Eka Prasetya, PJ Chair of the Jimbaran Hijau Foundation as an advisor for the 2023 Jimbafest activities added, in accordance with the big theme of the 2023 Jimbafest activities 'Agha Kerthi Jagadhita' which means 'Efforts to Protect Nature for a Prosperous Earth', planting mangrove trees is not only a step to replace emissions carbon but also a long-term investment in environmental sustainability.
Ridyawan Amnar as Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT Bank JTrust Indonesia Tbk explained on J Trust Bank's 8th anniversary, we share Jimbafest 2023's mission to protect the environment.
When we calculate the impact of a Jimbafest 2023 event and J Trust Bank's anniversary celebration activities, it adds up to 3 tons of CO2 emissions. But we can compensate for this by planting 250 trees every year. By planting 1000 mangrove trees, Jimbafest 2023 and J Trust Bank can not only offset the emissions from these activities but also contribute positively towards reducing overall carbon emissions in the environment.
The aim of this mangrove tree-planting activity is to set an example for the entire community. We hope that it inspires people to support zero carbon emissions efforts and take an active role in creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable environment.
