Soe, 6 September 2023 – Regent of South Central Timor (TTS), E.P Tahun inaugurated a simple technology to convert air into clean water. This project has been ongoing for more than a year in collaboration between the Plan International Indonesia Foundation (Plan Indonesia) Nusa Cendana University (Undana),
J Trust Bank and the TTS Regional Government (Pemda) through the Tesiayofanu Village government and the community. This inauguration took place in Tesiayofanu Village, Kie District, TTS Regency, Wednesday (6/9).
In the collaboration process, there are three programs, namely: providing clean water through an air-to-water converter using a solar power source, green agriculture for young people, especially women, and leadership education for young women.
The technology for converting air into water is the result of a combination of using solar power plants (PLTS) and air water generators/AWG or machines that convert air into water. AWG technology consists of 10 machines that work to convert air into water. In 1x24 hours, each machine unit produces 35 liters to 40 liters of water, so that 10 existing machines can produce 400 liters of clean water. The resulting water can be used for agricultural land with a water-saving drip irrigation system.
The Regent of TTS, E.P Tahun, in his speech expressed his gratitude to Plan Indonesia, Undana, and also J Trust Bank for helping us. This technology is the first in TTS, so we hope it can help the people of Tesiayofanu Village in utilizing land and also other clean water needs. With the hope that all needs related to clean water can be somewhat resolved and while we continue to develop this area so that it is free from various problems, such as reducing stunting rates, clean and healthy living habits, and other problems.
